The guys at the Duran say that many of the neocons are Trotskyites - dangerous promoters of chaos.
When one’s own country is in grave disrepair, I would argue that said country is in no shape to fight a war, much less win it, proxy or otherwise.
The warmongering neocons are wrong. Their policies are not based on sincerity. Rather, they are based on serving the military industrial economic interests. The stated goal of stopping aggression and/or protecting democracy amounts to no more than an insincere cloak righteousness.

Every time somebody wants us to get involved in a war, its suddenly the 1930s all over again (for about the 12th time now) and whoever they don’t like is Hitler.
Its not the 30s. Putin is not Hitler. We have been weakened by among other things, wasting a huge amount of money in the constant foreign wars we’ve been involved in since Desert Storm over 30 years ago. Our main opponent is China, not Russia. We should have been seeking ways to split Russia off from China as much as possible - not driving Russia into China’s arms.
Aside from China, the biggest threat to America is its own corrupt deep state which is aligned with their fellow globalists abroad. They are the ones who orchestrated the current war in Ukraine in the first place. They also stole an election and installed an eminently corrupt regime headed by an obviously senile old kleptocrat.

I think our politicians are so interested in saving Ukraine because it’s the corrupt money laundering state where they get all their illegal kickbacks. While they were screaming Russia Russia it was Ukraine who tried to defeat president Trump. Now they send Billions of dollars to Ukraine and refuse to put any oversight over where that money goes.
