During Sunday’s broadcast of HBO’s “Last Week Tonight,” host John Oliver took a shot at Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey (R), who signed legislation into law earlier this year prohibiting doctors from performing gender-reassignment surgeries and prescribing puberty blockers and hormones to minors.
Oliver lashed out at Ivey, asserting that Alabamians deserved “a lot better” than Ivey as governor.
"Y’all — am I saying that right? Y’all? I don’t think I can carry that off. You are important. I can’t imagine trying to build self-esteem in childhood as your own government attempts to undermine your very existence. But you should know you’re profoundly valuable, and you are irreplaceable. As for Kay Ivey, what the fuck is wrong with you? I know that’s a simple question with probably a long, complicated answer, but to put this in terms you’ll definitely understand: summer’s hot, ocean’s big, and the people of Alabama deserve a lot better than you."
Ivey slammed Oliver.
“I can assure you the people of Alabama want nothing to do with Mr. Oliver’s Hollywood-friendly, liberal agenda,” Ivey declared. “We’re going to keep focusing on helping our young people develop into the adults God intended them to be, and if that offends you, John, I don’t care.”

John Oliver is a (fill in the blank) as he spews forth asinine ramblings. It’s good to see her fight back.
As I recall, the issue was how Gov. Ivey signed legislation banning the so called “gender affirming” drugs and surgeries on minors, to change the sex of “transsexual” youth.
John Oliver ought to be reassigned to “male”, but it may take some convincing...

The gov should have invited him to Alabama so that she could transition him herself.

Good to see a politician attacking Hollywood. Long overdue.
The Governor understands that "gender-reassignment surgeries" are properly called "genital-mutilation-surgeries".
For her this is a good thing. But she needs her rebuttals to be longer, sharper, and more fiery. It would not hurt her standing in the polls one whit, and might even energize her supporters.
Oliver is a sniveling, snarling, incontinent wiener dog, so grabbing him by the scruff, and swatting him repeatedly with a rolled up newspaper over a patch of grass that won’t be harmed by his excrement, would make for fine entertainment.

And it’s a good thing. Some sherry-sipping fop in Hollwood telling the people of Alabama how to rear their kids? I think not.
Mama Kay says what she thinks. Some of her commercials for this election are priceless. She really supports the military and is a good governor. Some people think she is too “folksy”, but everyone in the state knows older ladies like her, right down to the .38 in her purse.
What about the lgbt school she financed in Birmingham?

John Oliver makes millions of dollars saying stupid things to stupid people.
She visited my daughter’s business in Ozark last month. My granddaughter was allowed to ask her one question and she chose, “Where do you keep your gun?” Memaw just laughed.
When well known Groomers publicly denounce those against Grooming, shouldn’t the DOJ, FBI and State Authorities be tearing his entire life apart to see how many innocent children he Groomed and Molested?
