The Asians devotion to the rats mystifies me.
That's a stereotype. Asians are split between political camps, just like whites. Old-time Chinese-Americans in San Francisco supported conservatives. Then an influx of Chinese from Asia in the 1970s began to alter the mix. There were many disagreements between pro-Taiwan and pro-communist China advocates in Chinatown. Newer Asians (Chinese, Philippine, etc.) leaned leftist. There are still many Republican Asian-Americans, but are overwhelmed by the Democrat ones. There is hope that the younger generation will turn the tide back to conservatives.
asians need to take things into their own hands......
In general, they try to embrace the dominant social/ideological paradigms to blend in. They are not known for aggressive individualism, and the instinct is to go with the majority opinions and majority directives. Hence the devotion to leftist thinking, given that this is prevalent where they are preponderant (big cities and universities and the west coast).
Once upon a time in the 90s Asians were actually split or leaned Republican, even in california but of course the party did absolutely nothing to court them. And they did nothing to challenge the dem tightening grip on education and the tech and corporate sphere. So over time the younger generation which is heavily into the academic, tech, and professional circles displaced the old immigrant generation and the rest is herstory.
