I did buy some crypto (Bitcoin & Ethereum). Sold it all last year and made a nice profit. However, what prompted me to sell was just what you mentioned: the increasing number of crypto variants with no clear idea of what makes one more valuable than another.
Indeed, if you look at the charts, almost all the variants echo what Bitcoin is doing.
