😊 Been to Barbers Point when I lived there as a dependent. Lived in Manoa Valley until housing was available in Pearl City. And, like a lot of places, get away from the population centers and things are better.

No mention of the “medical clearance” bullshiite they make you go through. Have to list your medical provider that may or may not affirm you are not mentally ill. Many have been denied permits when it was found they had been treated for depression and other “mental” issues.

The also started up requiring all new permit applications to be entered into the FBI’s “rapback” tracking system for whatever the hell that was supposed to do.

I had tooled up all I wanted before this and now refuse to engage the Hawaii PD in any way.

I was stationed on Crete back in the mid-70’s (wound up marrying a Greek girl) and found the place amazing. Friendly, warm, helpful people.

We’d go riding around in my old Oldsmobile (up in the mountains) and everyone knew me. I kept hearing people yelling my name for us to stop and talk (and eat, and eat, and drink that excellent wine).

Others couldn’t stand it but they refused to learn the language (I was no pro, but could get by) and had a tendency to be “uppity”. I couldn’t stand them. All they did was go to the King Charles Bar (where the Americans went) to complain about how much they hated it.

It’s all perspective.

Pearl City Tavern! The Monkey Bar! Those were the days my friend. Good times!

(PCT has been gone for years, I hear.)

I dunno, avoided the VA for decades.

Some providers like Kaiser apparently refused to respond, causing much aggravation. There are a few independent doctors that will submit the BS.

This crap and more are why I am sitting in Arizona at the moment. Travel back and forth is a PITA, but I needed a sanctuary just in case some of the draconian restrictions Hawaii politicians keep toying with happen.

Crete? I had the pleasure of doing several detachments at Souda Bay. I too found the locals very friendly the few times we got off base. Still can’t speak Greek though> :-)

“They want people to bring a firearm to the police station?”

Yes. I think they have changed that but paid no attention.

Great fun bringing in just a bare AR lower to register. Last time, woman was totally confused about it. “That’s it??” she said.

They tried telling me to bring it back in once completed, but there is no law requiring that. On the books, I only have a couple bare receivers. One of which is no longer there.

New law requires you to notify when a firearm is removed from the state. Fine of a couple hundred if you do not. Common attitude is “well, I may bring it back some day” and ignore them.

I had a VA card from back in the early 70’s and when I went to the local med facility they were like: “What’s that?” Intially denied due to allegedly no service related issues, I finally managed to get into the system. Reason I needed in? I need a shot every 90 days that costs $14,000/per and my former employer dropped my health coverage when medicare kicked in and there was no way medicare was paying it or the senior care plus I had. The VA issued me hearing aids even though they claimed I had no exposure to high noise levels. HUH? Destroyer engine rooms are a tad noisy. Now, come to find out after chest scans prior to a carotid surgery I have scarring in my lungs from asbestos exposure. Luckily it appears to be encapsulated and not going to develop into something. I will be refiling my claim with them since I found old records from time in service proving (?) what my assignments were. They don’t take one’s word for it.

Calling a white person a haoli is equivelant to calling a black person the β€œn” word, or a hispanic a s*ic”.

There is no difference.

There is a big difference. You can call me a haoli all day long and it wouldn't bother me one bit. Same with most whites. Words are a slur only if you let them be one. Call me haoli, cracker, white bread, whatever. It has no effect on me because I don't let others control my emotions with words.

I understand. I stand by what I said however. The level of insult is the same.

Some let it roll off their backs, others are ready to go to war.

And the basic question, why does the state not want their people to have guns. The real reason............................

I,m not that familiar with the history of Hawaii's gun control, but I wouldn't be surprised if it initially was based on racism during WWIII.

No registration before 1974 IIRC.

Hawaiians are still very much plantation oriented and subservient. The vote democrat because their elders tell them to. They obey the democrat rulers without question.

A large segment of whites moving to Hawaii are mainland liberals that just inject even more leftist thinking.

I do not see any hope for the place.

It’s still the same in New York City except you forgot that once you have the gun it’s just about impossible to legally transport it anywhere. You have a premises permit only good for that address.

This kind of a case is very important to me since I am still trapped in NY.
