When you blockade a port you just create a target rich environment. The Ukrainians will take good advantage of this.
In a recent special on Ukraine and the world food crisis, it was pointed out that Ukraine has enough grain stored to feed 400,000,000 people for a year. It is all stored in Odessa grain elevators, and Russia is not letting it out. It was reported that a number of very poor countries are already on half rations, and starvation is a real possibility without this grain supply. Ukraine is a major supplier of sunflower seed oil, which is now in major short supply throughout the world. Putin is apparently planning to have people in eastern Ukraine grow crops which will then be taken away to Russia.
I’ve heard that US will have a shortage of sunflower seed oil but will be able to substitute other oils. Grain prices may be the same on the market, but by the time you add transportation costs and then move from wholesale price through the consumer conduits prices rise considerably. At least this is the case in the US where wages and profits are high. Years ago I saw an analysis of meat prices which showed only a modest fraction of the price we pay ever goes back to the farmer.

Ten wars, 6 million deaths, 0 sanctions
That's a lot of grain. Hopefully, it will eventually be released and not destroyed.
