A group of Apple employees have accused the big-tech giant of racism over its push for corporate workers to return to the office, saying that the shift back to an in-person model will make the company 'younger, whiter, [and] more male-dominated.'
The employees, organized under the newly-formed group Apple Together, petitioned the company on Friday in an open letter after CEO Tim Cook told staffers that they would need to work from the office one day a week starting on April 11, two days per week after three weeks, and three days per week after May 23.
They wrote that the decision to bring employees back to the office was not motivated by a 'need to commune in person,' as Cook wrote in his letter to staff, but rather was driven by the company's 'fear of the future of work, fear of worker autonomy [and] fear of losing control.'
Although Apple will 'likely always find people willing to work here,' the group wrote, the shift back to working in the office will 'change the makeup of [the company's workforce].'
'It will lead to privileges deciding who can work for Apple, not who’d be the best fit,' the group wrote.
'Privileges like “being born in the the right place so you don’t have to relocate”, or “being young enough to start a new life in a new city/country” or “having a stay-at-home spouse who will move with you."'
'And privileges like being born into a gender that society doesn’t expect the majority of care-work from, so it’s easy to disappear into an office all day, without doing your fair share of unpaid work in society. Or being rich enough to pay others to do your care-work for you.'

I despise Gates and hate Windows but I’d never buy an Apple product despite the aforementioned .
Come on - they really want their fair share of unworked-for pay - which is far harder to extract in an office environment.

Even if true, the statement depends on disparate impact, which is patently bullshit.
Apple does best when it relies on Chinese Muslim slave labor. Fewer employee relations required.
Well, some folks at Apple understand where the creativity, enthusiasm, and results come from.
Ugh the entitled crowd. You don’t have to work for apple, they are choosing to.
Office numbers are going to return, I don’t see how work from home works if you are to manage/supervise people. Contact employees, yes, they are paid for services rendered, but for daily people on the books you want them showing up, even if it’s only a day a week.
Why pay an American high wages to work from home when you can pay someone pennies on the dollar in a third world country?

The more I think of it, the more I’m sure this saying is true:
The first person who mentions race is the racist.
They’re crying from victory to victory.
One must note that the only criteria for returning staff to the office would be to make the company “better”, such as more profitable.
And also note that that younger, whiter, and more male dominated might or might not make the company better in that sense.
As is demonstrated daily, woke = far far beyond stupid.
Quotas ruin companies.

Had hoped they wouldn’t have noticed that optimum form of racism....
Next thing they will get pissed about is that the new office dress-code requires wearing a white pointed hat and a sheet with a garage-door pull-down as a necktie...
