As a senior, living alone I have found it cheaper to buy frozen meals or fast food. Do not cook or bake huge meals any more.... too much waste.
Eggs, milk and meat get old really quickly it seems.
My family often takes me out for lunch and I bring home the leftovers.
I'm a 78 year old male and I do exactly the opposite.
I eat out once a week. Mostly I make big posts of stews, soups, beans and rice, etc. I separate it out into individual servings and freeze it. I just completed making a 25 serving pot of taco soup, I love it.
(ahem)I have some really big pots and four deep freezes.
I cook and freeze portions. Works better than trying to stomach the frozen meals in the dairy cases. My gosh they’re awful!
Crock pot a Roast, Chicken etc.
Spagetti
Soups
etc.
All good for the freezer.
If you live in a big metro area, many stores offer fresh complete meals on the fly. All you have to do is nuke it in the microwave oven. Many of these high end meals are half the cost of going to a restaurant. If you live in a smaller metro area in flyover country, options are still available but Filet Mignon isn't likely an option...
Buy yourself a food Saver. When you cook. Dish up a couple of others and runthem through the FS and into the freezer. Then you have a homemade frozen dinner that is exactly how you like it.
