Along with "The Science", age and metabolic adjusted Covid death rate, all cause excess deaths, and mortality average the study included unemployment rate, GDP, economic average and in person school. An interesting read, but the graphic from the WSH tells a lot of the story.
We told them so...
Of course, New Mexico with some the most authoritarian restrictions in the country is 48th with a score of F. Yet, the governor is running for reelection based on her COVID response measures.
On the bright side, three states are poorer than NM...
I contend the bottom 10 also have a MUCH higher % of illegal invaders. They avoided scrutiny.
Here are those states (in the order given above) in terms of per-cent non-white population (smaller % numbers = greater fraction of whites; lower # position, greater fraction of whites) and party affiliation of their governor:
Best COVID results, according to posted article:
Utah; 20.3 % (#33) R
Neb; 19.7 % (#37) R
Vt; 6.6% (#49) D
Mon; 13.2% (#45) R
SD; 17.1% (#40) R
Fla; 44,4% (#8) R
NH: 8.8% (#47) R
Maine: 6.3% (#50) D
Ark: 26.6% (#25) R
Id: 17.1% (#41) R
States with the worst COVID results, according to the article:
NJ; 43.3% (#14) D
DC. [66.2%, > #1)] D
NY; 43.6% (#10) D
NM; 61.3% (#3) D
CA; 61.6% (#2) D
IL; 37.8% (#15) D
Md; 47.5% (#6) R (kind of)
Nev; 48.7% (#5) D
Conn; 31.3% (#22) D
Penn; 22.3% (#32) D
With rare exceptions, the states that fared best with COVID were those with a lower percentage of non-white citizens along with Republican governors; the worst were largely those with more non-whites and Democrat governors. The second factor is probably easier to understand - most of those Democrat governors were bigger morons that their Republican counterparts. The ethnicity factor is probably way more complex - it could be a function of general socio-economic conditions or amount of vaccine compliance or relative degree of obesity or any of many such factors, probably in some complex combination.
