“We’ve spent the last 30 years trying to bring Russia into the sphere of modern nations. Now, we’re determined to drive them back to isolation.”

Pardon me if I edit this for you:

There have been some amazingly silly threads since the war started—but this one probably wins the award.

Meanwhile in the real world:

The Russians are merely losing business to SpaceX. No big deal here.

From the article at your link

“Today’s launch was the second that Russia has performed since invading Ukraine on Feb. 24. On March 18, a Soyuz launched from the Russia-run Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan, sending cosmonauts Oleg Artemyev, Denis Matveev and Sergey Korsakov to the International Space Station.

The trio entered the orbiting lab a few hours later wearing yellow-and-blue flight suits, the national colors of Ukraine. This prompted some people to speculate that the cosmonauts may have been expressing support for the invaded nation. Russian space officials have dismissed that interpretation, however.”

Surprised it lasted this long, given all the crap the West has been doing to Russia for the past 8 years.

No sense pretending the world is sane, or that we’re actual buddies.
We should be, but we aren’t.

For the moment that is exactly the proper viewpoint.

Perhaps best case is that Russia will be able to install in the near term, a balanced government that is able to step above much of its history and take a position in the modern world. Having had a small opportunity to know a few ordinary Russians who remain in Russia, I will say they reminded me a lot of our early frontier people.

Unfortunately, given the Biden family's involvement in that part of the world, the U.S. is not currently providing much of a model. It's easy to imagine, however, that a Trump II could well provide the beginnings of an outcome that would serve all concerned. Just my opinion.

Kind of difficult to do that when OUR EXAMPLE is Disney sexualizing little kids.

Hell of a place to have a falling out. What do aggrieved parties do, call a cab?

The cab is already there. The next US Astronauts to return home will depart on the Spacex Crew Dragon that brought them there in November. Crew Dragon 3 is currently docked at the station. If all goes well with the Boeing Starliner, we should have 2 US options to transport crews by the end of the year.

For Elon it would be an upgrade from his prefab tiny home in Boca. Think about that for a second the world’s richest man and in all likelihood the world’s first trillionaire lives in a prefab $50000 tiny home of his own design and making. This man doesn’t care about thing’s on earth he is heading to Mars and is the only one on this planet actively building the technology to do just that with his own money.

The cargo Dragon can already dock with ISS and supply 100% of its needs. Elon already confirmed that with the Soyuz out of the way Dragon can dock on the population pods adapter and use it’s Super Drago engines to orbit keep and maneuver the ISS. So rather than crash it just sell it to Elon for a cold C note and call it done. He can take his buddies up on his private spaceship for parties in orbit. Oh yeah he is the only man on earth with a private fully functional space ship that is also the only.one capable of leaving low earth orbit and returning every other capsule is limited to LEO not Dragon from the start it was deep space ready. The dildo shaped toy of Bezo can’t get to orbit let alone past LEO. There is no billionaire space race there is one guy who has a toy to have a few minutes of weightlessness and another guy who has a real spaceship that can spend weeks or months in space it’s laughable to compare the two.

If all goes well with the Boeing Starliner…

Fingers crossed, but Boeing can’t seem to get anything right anymore. Makes me wonder if years of “Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion” nonsense have finally corroded the company to the point of collapse.

The Biden’s FAA and EPA is hell bent of shutting Musk’s SpaceX down in favor of Bozo’s Blue Horizons and NASA’s Artemis. The idea seems to be to deny StarShip permits for the rapid prototyping needed to make it work and to keep SpaceX solvent.

SpaceX’s Starship will initially lift 100 tons to LEO and grow to lift 200 tons with 4 hour windows between launches, each launch costing around $1 million. There is no competition that can match it. So it must be stopped at all costs for Bozo to profit and NASA to look good.

Since I’m a bit of an astronomy buff, the dark-side stuff bugs me.
