Video or it didn’t happen. I haven’t seen even one video of an actual engagement between troops.

The Mosin NAgant was developed in the 19th century.
I wown one. Complete with Bayonet.

"That’s no joke about the rifles. I had a mauser 1898 that these were copied from."Really? Odd, considering the Mosin-Nagant rifle was developed in 1891.

The Mosin-Nagant was adopted in 1891, as I recall.
It is not unreasonable to call them 19th century rifles.

There is nothing wrong with pre 1900 Win94s.
Just sayin’.
The Mosins are still all good too.

Agreed, my 1891 Mauser Argentino has one of the smoothest, nicest fitting actions I have. Throw a good scope on it and in non-urban combat I would probably take that over my AK TBH.

A Moisin-Nagant makes a perfectly serviceable sniper rifle (with a scope), and even with iron sights isn’t horrible for something to give 2nd line / support personnel. It has probably killed over a million over time, maybe millions. Not everyone needs an AK-74.

My 30-06 Springfield Armory rifle circa 1930’s happens to be the best rifle ever made for a standing army.

Several Donbas draftees have been issued with a rifle called a Mosin, which was developed in the late 19th century and went out of production decades ago, according to three people who saw conscripts from the separatist region using the weapon. Images shared on social media, that Reuters was not able to verify independently, also showed Donbas fighters with Mosin rifles. Not a bad gun. But I question the news gathering capabilities of Reuters. Three people? Who? Images on social media? Yeah, those are NEVER faked.

I just bought a 4-pack at Costco to throw in the prepper closet. Already have a Big Berkey.

I threw a scope and sport stock onto my Springfield. If I lived in Wyoming I would use it more often. You’ve gotta give real consideration to what’s beyond what you’re shooting at. I tend to use my Marlin 30-30:most of the time for hunting. I’m not a good enough shot to go 500 yards out, but the Springfied is certainly a good enough gun to go a thousand yards out with a skilled experienced shooter.

He’s carrying a Mosin sniper. Very accurate if set up right.

I believe the man with the Mosin in the top picture and at the bottom picture is the same fellow. He is the one I saw in a video, rather ineffectively checking trunk contents at a roadblock.
I do not blame him; tough job. Keep the traffic moving and search the vehicles, contradictory assignments...

Russia has had a reputation for treating their military poorly for the past 100 years.
They didn't want to risk a coup.

So, guys, are you going to the store to buy a gun from 1911, or a gun from 2022, when you buy a 2022, newly listed Kimber: What is your point?
As I see, many here are lauding the virtues of the Mosin-Nagant.
Many 19th century firearm designs are still in use as secondary weapons in several nations.
The Daily Mail seems to think they are making good propaganda; maybe they are. It doesn't fly on freerepublic. Too many knowledgeable people here.
To: ImJustAnotherOkie
Mosin Nagant has nothing to do with the ‘98 Mauser. Do some research.
