Southern California might be a great place to live, but the pandemic and an expensive housing market have pushed many residents to move—like, all the way to Mexico.

Year-over-year home prices in the Los Angeles metro area were up 15.2% in 2021, while prices in Southern California overall went up 15.4%, according to a report by Norada Real Estate Investments. Shockingly, almost half of America’s “million-dollar cities,” where the average price of a home is at least $1 million, are in California, according to a Zillow study published today. The Los Angeles metro area has 57 million-dollar cities, and the state of California has 44% of all million-dollar cities nationwide.

For residents in these cities, affordable housing is increasingly found over the southern border.

“Since the beginning of the pandemic, the number of buyers and people looking to rent a house in Tijuana has increased considerably,” Fermín Kim King, president of the Real Estate Association of Tijuana, recently told reporters from Border Report.

A person should think long and hard about moving down around that place.

Better to quit your job and get to hell out of CA to someplace else. Even if you have to take a lower paying job.

Just leave the dam CA politics in CA.

They got a kind of “out of the frying pan and into the fire” solution thing going on.

Well, at least these particular folks aren’t coming to Florida. If they just don’t snitch on the druggos when they behead people, they’ll be fine.

They will be moving to a place of corrupt government, petty bureaucrats, violent street gangs, incomprehensible laws produced by communist dictators wanting bribes, unsanitary living conditions and frequent violence if they move to Mexico.

So not much change from California, except that the Mexicans may be more upfront and have less hypocrisy.

I knew people considering this 20 years ago. There was some border pass for US citizens to quickly commute through the border checkpoint from baja california norte to California. I forget what it was called.

At least they would not be moving near me. I’ve seen quite a few CA plates in my town in the past 2 years. It is not clear if it is mostly people from here who went off to CA and then came back during the ‘pandemic’ or fresh new residents. I’ve been downtown recently and haven’t seen any poop on the sidewalks yet so I’m not sure what is going on other than the fact that I should thank Texas and Florida for taking in the bulk of them.

“It may not be worse than areas of LA.”

True, it’s name your poison; Democrat-run city or one that’s run by drug kingpins.
