Poland’s 10-point plan to save Ukraine
Politico.eu ^ | Mar 25, 2022

Together with Slovenia and the Czech Republic, Poland has prepared a list of actions the EU must enforce if it really wants to end the war.

1) Cut off all Russian banks from the SWIFT international payment system.
2) Put in place a common asylum policy for Russian soldiers who refuse to serve the criminal regime in Moscow.
3) Completely stop Russian propaganda in Europe. Freedom of speech does not mean the right to lie.
4) Block Russian ships from our ports.
5) The same blockade must be put in place for road transport in and out of Russia.
6) Impose sanctions not only on oligarchs but on their entire business environment.
7) Suspend visas for all Russian citizens who want to enter the EU.
8) Impose sanctions on all members of Putin’s party, United Russia.
9) Put in place a total ban on the export to Russia of technologies that can be used for war.
10) Exclude Russia from all international organizations. We cannot sit at the same table as criminals.

The only thing all that will do is result in Russia retaliating with sanctions that will do severe damage to the US and European economies.

It's time to accept the fact that at least the eastern half of Ukraine will be under Russian control going forward and that most in that part of the country will okay or happy about that.

I loved point 3 the most. Russian reporting on Ukraine is like 10% lie vs 90% true. The opposite ratio for Western media.

“Russia retaliating with sanctions that will do severe damage to the US and European economies.”

Will we have a crisis in the borscht supply? Are Americans going to have to cancel their vacation in Tomsk?

The Russian economy is smaller than that of Australia’s. It is essentially irrelevant to the global economy outside of oil and gas.

Then tell Russia to do it now. Surrendering to a thug regime run by a train station whore is not the way to secure peace. That scumbag thief will consolidate his gains, rearm, and then attack the next nation on his list.

Better to run Russia into the ground now than to have to fight the bastards when they attack a NATO country.

I don’t know about the “happy” part. Crimea is overwhelmingly ethnically Russian. The rest of Ukraine, not so much.

There will come a point when the Russians will be provoked into a pre emptive strike that will be nuclear or one that will be met with a retaliatory nuclear attack. I’m in rural area, 40 miles down wind from the nearest potential source of fallout. That’s bad enough but at least I won’t be turned into fallout. It’s looking more and more as though DC has subverted the peace process. Nothing short of war criminals running things in DC.

Who determines what is a lie?

So it’s not Poland’s plan - it’s Poland’s plan for what the EU must do.

If I were Poland, I would have spies in the German foreign ministry listening in on all the calls between Moscow and Berlin - and I would have to VERY confident about which side the Germans are on, and very knowledgeable about what Russia is willing to offer them - before I was yapping about plans.

Item #3 is largely implemented already in most of the EU, so why put on the wish list items that are done already?

In reality, nothing here matters.

The most dangerous move Poland may make is to attempt to grab Western Ukraine — this will bring us step closer to WWIII. And on this we see an interesting statement from the Czech rep : yes, they will fully support the Polish “peacekeeping” initiative, but only after the war on the Ukraine is over.

“There will come a point when the Russians will be provoked into a pre emptive strike”

Then do it now. Let’s get it on. Stop making a bunch of limp-dicked threats and get to it already.

Their peacekeeping is exactly about that. Expect Poland to get leveled as a result, and NATO is going to look elsewhere.

Nope. That’s been on the table for discussion for a while now because Ukraine has the sovereign right to give to Poland the territories that the USSR stole from Poland and annexed to Ukraine.

Russia argues that Crimea used to belong to Russia so Russia has a right to it, correct?

Then Poland likewise has a right to lands that used to belong to Poland.

And were Ukraine to make a cession of these territories to Poland then they would immediately come under NATO and Article V protection. If Putin doesn’t like that he can send some tanks our way and we’ll slaughter them.

“The only thing all that will do is result in Russia retaliating with sanctions that will do severe damage to the US and European economies.”

The Russian economy is a joke. Let them try eating their oil and gas.

If civilized countries start “accepting” that smaller countries can be invaded and conquered by force of arms where does it stop?

I dislike both sides here. But there are principles at stake. Allowing Putin to snatch a sovereign country in total defiance of international law sets a terrible precedent.
