“In a rare update on losses, Russia says 1,351 of its troops have been killed in Ukraine, and 3,925 wounded.

NATO estimates that 7,000 to 15,000 Russian soldiers have been killed, while Ukraine estimates it to be 16,100 troops.”

There was a train with fired Russian officers aboard bound for Siberia which was turned around on a certain fateful day in June 1941.

I'm not catching the reference... can you fill this out a little?

“European Council to develop Ukraine Solidarity Trust Fund to finance reconstruction after war.

The EC announced its plans on March 24 to set up the fund to support Ukraine for its immediate needs and, once the war is over, “for the reconstruction of a democratic Ukraine.””

“Russia’s Putin says West is trying to cancel Russian culture including greats such as Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninov”

“Today they are trying to cancel a whole thousand-year culture, our people,” Putin said in a televised meeting with cultural figures.

“In this way they are banning Russian writers and books,” Putin added.

If even half of these reports are true, russia in deep chit. Running out of fuel? Food and water? Dud missles? Tanks being taken out by drones? Ships being sunk? Can this all be wartime propaganda?

The ghost of Tokyo Rose is blushing...

“I am starting to wonder if half the Russian army are generals””

Check out the US armed forces. Walk the corridors of the Pentagon. They are a “dime a dozen” as the saying goes!

Russian OPSEC must be terrible. Their enemy shouldn’t be able to figure out where these high value targets are. What is up with Russia? This whole thing is one big Charlie-Foxtrot, not the unstoppable rolling juggernaut we would’ve expected.

Didn’t they lose their sixth general a couple of days ago?

They can’t even keep up with their own propaganda.

Zelensky became president during the Trump years, 2019, and was not a politician before. I think it was Poroshenko, the out going president who was in bed with the Bidens, etal.

Zelensky is married to a beautiful, accomplished woman and they have two children in what appears to be a typical Christian family.

What I read on FR is much different from what Wikipedia has this to say about Zelensky:

Zelenskyy grew up as a native Russian speaker in Kryvyi Rih, a major city of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast in central Ukraine. Prior to his acting career, he obtained a degree in law from the Kyiv National Economic University. He then pursued comedy and created the production company Kvartal 95, which produced films, cartoons, and TV shows including the TV series Servant of the People, in which Zelenskyy played the role of the Ukrainian president. The series aired from 2015 to 2019 and was immensely popular. A political party bearing the same name as the television show was created in March 2018 by employees of Kvartal 95.

Zelenskyy announced his candidacy in the 2019 Ukrainian presidential election on the evening of 31 December 2018, alongside the New Year’s Eve address of then-president Petro Poroshenko on the TV channel 1+1. A political outsider, he had already become one of the frontrunners in opinion polls for the election. He won the election with 73.23 per cent of the vote in the second round, defeating Poroshenko. He has positioned himself as an anti-establishment and anti-corruption figure.”

Putin is cancelling Russian culture outside Russia. His atrocities have made anything associated with Russia repulsive.

Their generals are on the frontlines fighting...The media makes it our to be a sign of weakness. They are warriors and this military operation, which it is, is a big deal.

"They are warriors"-no idiots, its a sign of failure if your generals are being killed.

There hasn’t been an Army since the Middle Ages where a general leads from the front of a column.

That’s a good way to go through a lot of valuable personnel.

Russian general who bragged ‘war would be over quickly’ killed in Ukraine strike:

Lieutenant General Yakov Rezantsev, 48, was reportedly killed in a strike by the Ukrainian armed forces after telling his regiment the operation in Ukraine would only last a ‘few hours’.

Vladimir Putin has lost another general in the Ukrainian war, claim military sources in Kyiv.

Lieutenant General Yakov Rezantsev, 48, was killed in a strike by the Ukrainian armed forces, they say.

He was Commander of the 49th Combined Arms Army of the Southern Military District.

The Russian side has not so far confirmed the death.

A service member said Lt. Gen. Yakov Rezantsev told them on the fourth day of their deployment that the war would be over quickly.

The soldier said: “Do you know what he told us? ‘It’s no secret to anyone that there are only a few hours until this special operation is over.’ - And now those hours are still going.”

As the Kremlin reportedly fumes at the loss of some of its top generals, experts have said there could be a catalog of reasons why senior Russian officers have fallen.

It comes amid reports of unreliable equipment and electronics among Russian forces, as well as subordinates being too terrified to make quick decisions.
