People are familiar with Hiroshima, and might even be dimly aware of the firebombing of Tokyo. But Dresden? Maybe if they read some Vonnegut; but I doubt even then. The US/UK bombing raids on Dresden were horrific, and for no valid military purpose (at least none that could be justified).
I’ve read books on that bombing, and some were VERY descriptive. There were graphic descriptions of people literally being sucked into the firestorm from blocks away, and then up, up, and away as red-hot charcoal, like being in a blast furnace. Brutal.
Oh it can be applied to a number of Republicans also, both Bushes, Nixon, Reagan, no one gets a pass on this, except possibly Trump.

I read where one of the UK pilots (I think the guy was actually Canadian, but flew with the RAF) was so overcome by guilt at his role in the bombings that he later blew his brains out.
That was a bad legacy for Air Marshall Harris.
