Pope Francis Removes Puerto Rican Bishop From Office for Allowing Conscientious Objections to COVID-19 Vaccines

Pope Francis has removed a Puerto Rican bishop from office over allowing conscientious objections to COVID-19 vaccine shots, some of which were made from the mutilated parts of aborted fetuses.

Bishop Daniel Fernández Torres led the Diocese of Arecibo for over ten years, but was asked to abdicate the post because he “had not been obedient to the pope nor had I been in sufficient communion with my brother bishops of Puerto Rico.”

On March 9, Pope Francis replaced Torres in the diocese. The Vatican gave no reasoning for their decision. Bishop Álvaro Corrada del Río, bishop emeritus of Mayagüez, replaced him. Torres is outspoken about the injustice behind his removal.

“I deeply regret that in the Church where mercy is so much preached, in practice some lack a minimum sense of justice,” Torres said in a March 9 declaration on the diocesan website.

“No process has been made against me, nor have I been formally accused of anything and simply one day the apostolic delegate [the pope’s representative in Puerto Rico] verbally communicated to me that Rome was asking me to resign,” he continued.

“A successor of the apostles is now being replaced without even undertaking what would be a due canonical process to remove a parish priest..,” Torres added

Why isn’t the Pope Catholic?

The Pope hasn’t been Catholic for a long time. Or at least for the last 9 years, which was when we had the Bergoglian Usurpation.

This bishop was removed, completely in contradiction to Church law, not only because he offered to give Catholics a letter supporting their objection if they objected to the vaccine for conscience reasons, but because he was declared by Rome not to be “in communion” with his fellow bishops, members of the Puerto Rican Bishops Conference. Synodality, you know.

He was obviously in communion with them, he just didn’t agree with them on certain issues. And since the majority of the bishops do not respect their charge as successors to the Apostles and just do whatever is politically popular, they were actually the ones who complained about him and got him removed.

BTW, Bishop Fernandez has also resisted “gender ideology,” aka the LGBTQRSTUVWXYZ agenda, and personally, with this gay Pope and his followers, I think that was the main reason.

Prophecy of St. Francis of Assisi...

“...At the time of this tribulation a man, not canonically elected, will be raised to the Pontificate, who, by his cunning, will endeavor to draw many into error and death....

...Those who preserve in their fervor and adhere to virtue with love and zeal for the truth, will suffer injuries and, persecutions as rebels and schismatics; for their persecutors, urged on by the evil spirits, will say they are rendering a great service to God by destroying such PESTILENT men from the face of the earth, but the Lord will be the refuge of the afflicted, and will save all who trust in Him. And in order to be like their Head, [Christ] these, the elect, will act with confidence, and by their death will purchase for themselves eternal life; choosing to obey God rather than man, they will fear nothing, and they will prefer to perish rather than consent to falsehood and perfidy.”

ALL CAPS added for the multi-meaning word choice here.

Somebody please tell me what vaccines have to do with Salvation? And what is the roll of the Church, anyway? Paul would not get involved in slavery because it distracted from his role as an evangelist for Salvation. What is the Pope?

I am not religious, but I am truly perplexed that a faithful, believing member of the Catholic church could look at this pope with what he says and does and want to stay in the Catholic church.

want to stay in the Catholic church

Because Our Lord and Savior founded it. We have had bad popes before, not lately though. This one will soon go to his Eternal Reward, whatever that may be. He is mortal and to dust he shalt return, Our Lord is forever and in glory He reigns.

In the meantime, whilst the wheat and chaff are separated, we watch and pray.

The Pope, especially a controversially ( fraudulently?) elected one is not the Catholic Church. The Catholic Church has survived bad popes in the past and will survived this Marxist.

It seems Catholic clergy frequently promote abortion and homosexuality and do not get removed. Some even sexually abuse children and the crimes are covered up and these offenders simply moved somewhere else to repeat the offenses. But here we have a case of quickly removing someone for no legitimate reason.

They’ve already infiltrated. Here it is, Lent, and we have to worry about stuff like this?

The Lord will bring us through, but it ain’t gonna be easy for us.

If you abandon your faith because of a pope you never had faith in the first place.

i am rusty on theology, but what are the arguments in a nutshell both ways?

in particular, on the anti-vax side, why mandate lack of faith in g*d’s creation?

Huh, so what happened to this Archbishop?

Catholic troops should be able to reject vaccine if it violates their conscience, archbishop says

“Archbishop Timothy P. Broglio said in a statement Tuesday that although the Catholic Church’s highest doctrinal authority has determined that being vaccinated is not sinful, U.S. troops still can refuse vaccination on religious grounds.”

If you abandon your faith because of a pope you never had faith in the first place.

That's where I get confused. The church is an institution. Can one not have faith without the institution? Why is one's faith dependent upon an institution headed by such a man as this?
