Iran Nuclear Talks Near Collapse as Russia Demands Protection From Sanctions

The news is grim all over the world: war, famine, pestilence (kind of), and inflation aplenty. In fact, there are only two bits of good news to cheer us up.

The talks between Iran and the West on how fast they get to build their nuclear bomb are near collapse.

Politico:

Negotiations have reached an impasse over the Russian requests, diplomats said, imperiling the revival of a 2015 landmark deal under which Iran limited its nuclear ambitions in exchange for sanctions relief.

Russia is requesting that any return to the agreement include guarantees that any future Russian business with Iran be exempt from EU and U.S. sanctions — a late curveball from Moscow in response to the crippling penalties the country is facing over its invasion of Ukraine.

A pause in #ViennaTalks is needed, due to external factors.

A final text is essentially ready and on the table.

As coordinator, I will, with my team, continue to be in touch with all #JCPOA participants and the U.S. to overcome the current situation and to close the agreement.

— Josep Borrell Fontelles (@JosepBorrellF) March 11, 2022

The final draft of a new agreement is already finished and on the table, ready to be signed. But the Europeans are not about to let Russia off the hook via a back-door deal with Iran.

But negotiators from the other world powers involved — including the U.S., U.K., France, Germany and China, as well as senior EU diplomats — can’t find a way to accommodate the demands, diplomats said. So after 11 months of intermittent negotiations in Vienna, talks will take a break to allow for bilateral conversations between Iran and Russia over the situation.

The don’t want sanctions for already breaking agreements.......

Don’t worry, Biden and the Democrats will trust them now not to do it again.

The reality is that they just want to open up Iran to do the same thing that Burisima was doing. Re-cycling State department money to politicians.

The American taxpayer will pay in blood for the new nukes, and pay in funds for the rip off.

Russia wants sanction protection for the US to bend over for the Iran deal?

Doubly ridiculous.

Prediction: They will make a deal that assures Iran has nukes aimed at the destruction of Israel. The Obama/Biden regime wants this as much as Iran does. This will force Israel to stop those nukes, causing a middle east war — with Russia and maybe China supporting Iran.

All the more reason to start ramping up domestic energy production

Let me get this straight. Russia, who won’t follow any rules associated with “enemy” agreements, is seeking concessions in an “agreement” between the USA and Iran, that Iran isn’t, won’t and never will follow, so that our current President can claim a victory that includes setting a time table for when a radical violent enemy will be able to deploy and use nuclear weapons against our ally, Israel?

Have I got the logic straight on this boondoggle?

So, a deal Brokered by Russia, with the Terrorist supporting State of Iran, on behalf of the US, is in danger of collapse?

I guess the old adage is still valid: “NEVER underestimate Biden’s ability to F-Things Up” It applies to EVERYTHING he touches.

RE: Have I got the logic straight on this boondoggle?

Yes, you have. Putin is trying to use the Iran Nuclear negotiations and Russia’s leverage there to get concession for himself because he KNOWS that Biden is desperate for this deal to go through ( for what idiotic reasons, you can guess ).

Russia is requesting that any return to the agreement include guarantees that any future Russian business with Iran be exempt from EU and U.S. sanctions — a late curveball from Moscow in response to the crippling penalties the country is facing over its invasion of Ukraine...But negotiators from the other world powers involved...can’t find a way to accommodate the demands, diplomats said. So after 11 months of intermittent negotiations in Vienna, talks will likely take a pause to allow for bilateral conversations between Iran and Russia over the situation.

Iran seems eager to close the deal, given the potential revenue it can gain from exporting its oil with prices now soaring and its need for sanctions relief.

The development is a remarkable U-turn. As recently as last week, it was widely expected that negotiators were about to unveil an agreement to return to the 2015 deal.

It would be poetic justice if the Biden administration’s decision to outsource our own negotiations with an anti-American terrorism-backing regime to Moscow ultimately doomed the agreement due to...preposterous, selfish demands from Moscow. This apparent ‘pause’ comes at an essential moment, as Republicans on Capitol Hill scramble to mobilize against the rumored accord. The worry, per at least one whistleblower, was that Biden would sign off on a stunningly bad deal, and that billions would immediately start to flow to some of the world’s worst actors, before Congress could do anything. This reported delay — forcing Moscow and Tehran to huddle — at least buys time.

If they’re smart ( fat chance ) Republicans must take advantage of this gift and work assiduously to build bipartisan pressure on the White House.

“Iran can never have a powerful bomb.”

Israel and their new buddy Saudi Arabia will never allow the Mullahs to have a nuclear weapon. Those idiots see using a nuke on Israel as a means of forcing their prophesied “Mahdi” to come to earth and vanquish everyone who doesn’t adhere to or submit to Shiite Islam.

In short, the nuclear armed suicide cult portrayed in the movie “Beneath the Planet of the Apes” fairly well sums up the Iranian Mullahs.
