Former Maine Gov. Paul LePage (R) on Tuesday called for the Mills administration and state legislature to cut Maine’s fuel tax in response to gasoline prices reaching record highs across the nation.

LePage, who is challenging Gov. Janet Mills (D) in the state’s gubernatorial race this year, spoke about the tax at a press conference in the town of Falmouth on the same day Mills formally announced her bid for reelection.

Any Democrat that cuts the gas tax now is a HYPOCRITE because we only have 9 years left to save the planet!

Screw these guys - hold them to their woke ideology and let them own the consequences of their SPEECH.

These people are PATHETIC. Crappy government policies, endless money from heaven to people who won’t work, and a never-ending war on fossil fuels and they want to give us a few crumbs. I hope they all roast painfully for eternity in hell.

So if we convert to renewables, how’s state and federal government going make up for the lost tax revenue? They got to get it from somewhere.

Instead of a tax per gallon of gasoline, there will be a tax on miles driven. I believe that proposal has been around for a few years-with hybrids and better mpg cars revenue from the gas tax has been falling in some states.

Remember when reporters had a brain. Just in case your wondering, Maine’s fuel surcharge is .30 cents per gallon. This info is nowhere to be found in the article.

That’s what people like about him.

I live in Maine, by the way. Voted for LePage in 2010 and 2014.

He was term limited out in 2018, but he can run again in 2022 and he is doing so.

LePage was a great Maine governor, just as Trump was a great American president. LePage is running for the republican governor’s position, again. Current democrat governor Mills is just as bad as Biden. LePage is a plain speaker and a man of solid values and a man of action. I pray he is elected.
