RNC Ripped for President's Day Tweet Celebrating 'Great Presidents'

The Republican National Committee (RNC) is receiving criticism for a tweet it sent to commemorate Presidents’ Day.

The RNC’s Twitter account on Monday shared a graphic of various presidents with the words, “Happy Presidents’ Day To Such Great U.S. Presidents.”

The presidents featured in the graphic were all Republicans, including Abraham Lincoln, Calvin Coolidge, Dwight Eisenhower, Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush, George W. Bush, and Donald Trump.

The biggest controversy here seems to be coming from those within the cult of personality of Theodore Roosevelt who are all bent out of shape. When I look at comments in some places, and when I've heard this brought up by people talking about it, it's TR that is sparking this outrage.

I'm glad they didn't include TR. I'm a conservative. He was a progressive. Good riddance. It's bad enough we have to celebrate the Bushes, TR oversaw huge expansions of the size and scope of the federal government, doing violence to the constitution along the way, and he personally created much of today's deep state.

My Grandfather was a Marine in the Pacific during WWII. I will always say that Harry Truman was a good President for making the decision to drop the Atom bombs on Japan. I might not be here otherwise.

My problem with that list is that at best four of them could be considered “great.”

I don’t celebrate the Bushes, they are largely responsible for where we are today.

I will always say that Harry Truman was a good President for making the decision to drop the Atom bombs on Japan.

He was a great man even if that were the only decision he ever made. As it was he demonstrated what strength and calm and wisdom looked like before and after the decision.

This is the complete opposite of the frightened squirrel supposedly running the show today. With cowardice, stupidity and dishonor in his wake.

That is about all Truman got right.

If Truman had served out his first term and not run for a full term, he would likely have been considered one of our greatest presidents.

I will agree with that. But, the biggest thing that Truman gave us was Eisenhower.

Bump, Truman is why we have Communist China to deal with. Another light weight fool that never should have been in the oval office.

His stock has gone up quite a bit in the last 40 years. He was not afraid to make decisions that were very unpopular with his own party. He was the last President with no degree and he was amongst the poorest financially. He was a good man, better for this job than being knowledgeable or even smart.

“TR oversaw huge expansions of the size and scope of the federal government, doing violence to the constitution along the way, and he personally created much of today’s deep state.”

And he was responsible for causing the election of one of America’s worst and nastiest presidents, Woodrow Wilson.

I like Ike but I'll take Taft.
