It’s Washington’s Birthday. It was Nixon who misnamed it “Presidents Day.” As Shakespeare said, “the evil men do lives after them.”

It’s Washington’s Birthday.

I believe the holiday’s official name is still ‘Washington’s Birthday’. Lincoln’s birthday has never been a national holiday although many states did celebrate it.

But in keeping with the spirit Politico, perhaps the Woken should boycott Flag Day, since that also happens to be President Trump’s birthday. Not that they’d likely be doing much flag waving in any case.

This is something I harp on continuously, or at least seasonally. The holiday is established by law and the statutory name of the holiday is “George Washington’s Birthday.” Nixon’s offhand remark robbed a great American of his due observance. For the life of me I don’t know why the misnomer has caught in like it has.
