The general peak of viewers to the SOTU episode was around 1993 with 70-million. The Obama years started off high at 52-million...dropping a few million each year and ending with 31-million on his last speech.
Trump bumped up in the mid-40s for his four. Joe Biden for last year? 27-million, lowest viewer audience for past 30 years.
People might watch the highlights the next day, but the vast number of Americans just don’t care about this anymore. Wouldn’t shock me if Joe even dropped below the 20-million mark by 2023’s SOTU.
You mean like “nobody watches Tucker Carlson or Trump's rallies”?
Nobody is going to watch the sotu live
True but how many people ever attend/watch Buden’s rallies? Close to zero.
and the pinkos in the so-called “news” media definitely won't replay what the GOP has to say.
Oh you mean the “pinkos” in the media like CNN who's ratings are down a staggering 90% since last year, who cant even average a measly 500,000 viewers a day?
The bestresponse IMO was Todd Whitman’s to Clinton in ‘95. It was just after the Red Wave of ‘94 and it was done in the GOP controlled NJ Assembly with flags, color guard, Jersey troopers and many standing O’s. The visuals were great. If Va. GOP could repeat that it would be visually effective.
Worst response? Hands down Bobby Jindal.
They went bonkers last year over Tim Scott - can’t imagine how crazy Winsome Sears would make them.
That was the most talked about response to an SOTU I can remember in my lifetime - complete with rich, white liberals like Joy Behar lecturing Tim Scott on how he doesn’t understand what it is to be black in America.
