Mexican military absent as El Chapo’s sons sow terror

The city of Caborca in Mexico’s Sonora state was held hostage for 24 hours by dozens of hitmen loyal to the sons of drug lord “El Chapo,” sowing terror on its streets and killing two people.

It all began with the warning from truck drivers. Urgent messages sent out the alert last Tuesday afternoon that a tragedy was unfolding, as dozens of pickup trucks covered in homemade armor and mounted with assault rifles were seen moving fast northwards to Caborca, the final city in the Sonora desert before reaching the United States.

The guns were of a caliber capable of taking out helicopters, and the vehicles were marked with an X so as not to confuse them with the enemy. The truck drivers’ warnings increased in urgency, but the men dressed in military and tactical gear took time to fill their cars with gas and film themselves boasting about their artillery: “The Chapiza [El Chapo’s men] is here: we are coming with everything,” one said.

The ruthless sons of the world’s biggest drug trafficker, Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán, were about to lay siege to an entire town. The national news did not cover the incident unfolding, overtaken by a spat between supporters of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador and his adversaries over a media investigation into his eldest son. Residents of wealthy areas of the capital were protesting online about soaring rent prices, and meanwhile a war had just been unleashed in the north, but is also ongoing in Michoacán, Colima, Guerrero and Zacatecas.

Thousands of people were praying in their homes that the bullets would not go rip through their walls. All of this happens in Mexico every day, simultaneously.

We should invade Mexico and establish a buffer zone between that narco-state and USA, patrolled by us but sovereign. We intercept drugs and illegal colonizers before they cross into the US. Eventually in a few decades we withdraw. Leave behind emBASEees.

From my home page

I have been advocating for several years a policy I call ‘embaseees’. Embassy + AirBase —> EmBASEeees. We go into a terrorist country, clear out their taliban equivalent, then withdraw to very large Embassies, perhaps 3 of them. Have them big enough to encompass a military airbase where we can use it for decades on end to conduct anti-terrorism operations. As long as the ‘host’ country aint killing Americans then we let them have self-sovereignty. Kind of like how we operated in the Phillipines for decades. We could even have an intermediate zone that we patrol but it would be autonomous. Let them have their taste of freedom. A referendum every 10 years to see how large the boundaries of the intermediate autonomous zone should be.

Caborca is a fine old mission town. Its townspeople are hardworking agriculturists producing everything from asparagus to berries. What is happening in this area of Sonora is criminal and has greatly reduced tourism at Puerto Penasco on the Gulf of California. In fact, narcotics trafficking has nearly destroyed Sonora’s economy and way of life. And Mexico City has done nothing to stop the chaos.

The cartels have got to go. They are now operating freely on US soil and have taken control of a couple of towns inside the US. It can’t be tolerated. We did it in Columbia and we can do it in Mexico.
