Families of Sandy Hook victims settled their lawsuit Tuesday with Remington Arms, manufacturer of the AR-15 automatic gun used to kill 20 kids and 6 staff members in the 2012 massacre.

The nine families brought a class-action suit in 2014 against Remington Arms, which made the weapon used in the mass shooting claiming the gun-maker sought to sell the military-grade weapon to the mentally ill.

The writers of this story know nothing about firearms and definitely nothing about the AR-15.The writer claims that the Remington AR-15 was an automatic weapon when in reality it was a semi-auto rifle.

The problemmis now though that future suits will get to point to,this lawsuit and claim that the manufacturer was in essence admitting guilt by paying off, and now the left get to perpetrate the lie that ar-15’s are “military grade weapons of war” by the manufacturer’s own implied admission in view of the settlement.

This was a big loss and capitulation to the left, and sets up further lawsuits against not just gun manufacturers but also and object used in the killing of others. This is bad news as it is gonna turn into a free-for-all agaisnt companies that make objects that can be used to kill others with, no matter what it is

I onowmits not a slam dunk for future lawsuits agaisnt manufacturers, but thye are getting closer and closer to,suing everyone into oblivion now. Now every death by gun will be argued as the manufacturer “creating and targetting and selling weapons of death to the mentally ill.”

“How about McD’s for obesity?”

I’m not so sure about the ‘obesity’ thing but if you spill hot McD coffee in your lap they’ll pay you $65,000 - adjusted to today’s rate of inflation which probably amounts to a cool $100K!

The sad thing is this now sets a precedent for anyone killed by a firearm.

Also the article stated Remington was manufacturer of the “AR-15 automatic gun”

It was not automatic.

It was the kid’s parents that brought the firearm into the home and let their obviously deranged child have access to it.

The kid murdered his mother in order to gain access to the firearm. The kid's father was no longer married to or involved with the kid.

It is certainly possible to debate the wisdom of every aspect of the care provided to the shooter, including having a firearm present that he could murder someone to obtain, but there is either blame all along the path of the shooter's life, or he is responsible for his actions.

Blaming the parents, including a father who wasn't even there is unjustified.

Let’s sue cutlery companies for making people fat. Let’s sue baseball bat manufacturers whenever one is used in a crime.

Let’s sue everyone because our feelings are hurt.

From here on out I stay away from Remington products.

Same here. This just opens the door for further lawsuits of all sorts. Will auto makers now be responsible for drunk drivers?

“The kid murdered his mother in order to gain access to the firearm.”

It has been reported that Lanza had access to the safe without having to kill his mother.

Wikipedia states “Investigators found Lanza was fascinated with mass shootings, such as the Columbine High School massacre, the Virginia Tech shooting and the Northern Illinois University 2008 shooting. Among the clippings found in his room, there was a story from The New York Times about a man who shot at schoolchildren in 1891. His computer contained two videos of gunshot suicides, movies that showed school shootings and two pictures of Lanza pointing guns at his own head.[173][174] It was also claimed that he had edited Wikipedia articles about mass murderers.[175]”

Even if his mother was not aware of his obsession with mass murders (and kept a scorecard) he likely gave some indications that he was. That would have been reason enough to change the combination on the gun safe. In any case all reports that were that he was a very strange child which would have justified additional precautions.

You DO settle when you believe going through trial and getting a jury verdict of guilty, thereby potentially costing you 330 Million, or 3 billion, is a real possibility. Most of these big business decisions are that, strictly business decisions. So don’t get upset at the outcome!

That's lawyer speak.

All this does is give talking points to our enemies.

People here don’t seem to realize this is all stemming from Sandy Hook.

The law firm representing the parents is run by the son of Connecticut Senator Dick “stolen valor” Blumenthal.

It ‘s the same firm suing Alex Jones who did NOT say Sandy Hook was a hoax.

The object of these suits is to bankrupt the plaintiffs. Nothing more. The money is just icing on the cake.
