My SIL drives a Genesis Coup. I borrowed it one day from my daughter for a fly/buy lunch. It was fun to drive. With rear wheel drive, that sucker can accelerate through turns.

The next day SIL asked daughter: Why is accumulated fuel mileage so low?

Perhaps the people who pay the extra money for Honda/Toyota take better care of them, they sure look better with age.

This is true. I have two Toyotas, a '14 Sienna and a '15 Tacoma. Both paid off. I take them to the Toyota dealership every 5000 miles for servicing. I know this costs me a little more but I plan on keeping these vehicles for a long time.

We have similar taste. I’d been looking at a Mercedes and even made initial contact with my local dealer. The new 2022 C class won’t be available in my area until April.

A relative mentioned the new G80s. After some research, a bunch of YouTube video reviews and a test drive, it was a done deal. Glad to see some competition for the Germans.

Ill never drive a KIA. We had a number of KIA vans where I worked.

Theres a break in traffic so the driver would step on the gas to get into it. The van did nothing. The driver would take their foot off because it was no longer safe. The van would lurch into traffic. We couldnt get it fixed because the mechanics claimed there was nothing wrong with the vehicles. We got to the point that we drove with both feet because no one trusted them.

The GV80 is definitely a nice looking SUV. It's got the same design features as other Genesis models. Twin convex lines on the body, front side lights and that nice grille.

I wasn't looking for any offroad capability or hauling though, so went with the G80 sedan.

When I see “JD Power” I always wonder how much of a bribe the companies had to pay this year to get their ranking.

Hi.

KIA and Hyundai have large recalls of vehicles with different problems. Currently examples are the suspension and fire hazzard. Hood and doors latches.

I’m sure JD Powers knows this.

As always, Land Rover is at the bottom.

I wonder where Tesla would be if they had a big enough sample?

Scotty is also an idiot - not because of his Kia statements, but because of some of his other statements that have been proven demonstrably false.

Oh, and because he’s stupid enough to go underneath a car supported only by a single jack (not a jack stand, just a jack) on camera and deliver a monologue.

My brother owns a body shop and he’s seen everything as deep into a vehicle as you can possibly see. He said Hondas are the best built vehicles in existence and Toyotas are tin cans in comparison.

Prior to retirement I supervised collision damage estimators for a large insurance company. One of them was previously a highly-regarded heavy-collision repair tech, and he said the same thing about Hondas.

Yep, I pretty much have been buying only Hondas, still drive my 2003 Accord daily.

Every time I've seen him jack something up, he always puts a jack stand under the car. That's not to say he's done it every time, just to say that of the hundreds of videos I've watched of him doing things, he's never not used a jack stand when he's jacked something up and crawled under it.

When driving a vehicle “enthusiastically”, always remember to reset the cumulative fuel efficiency device while enroute to returning the car, thereby disguising your heavy foot.

Don’t ask me how I know this...

Consumer Reports Magazine has reliable reports on cars but,IMO,JD Powers doesn't.

We used to subscribe to Consumer Reports. Got burned on several things they said were quality products. They went leftist, we dropped them.

“Yep, I pretty much have been buying only Hondas...”

Same here, ever since I stopped driving company cars :). I’ve got a 2014 Accord that’s never needed anything but routine maintenance.

Then you haven’t paid attention to his videos. There’s at least three times that he’s done it on camera. If I wasn’t at work, I’d go dig up the videos from my “Scotty is an idiot” playlist on YouTube.

Also worth noting that:
1. The guy has had several videos where he was visibly drunk.
2. He has stated as fact many things that have been easily refuted.
3. His mechanic shop in Houston was so successful that he went out of business (not sold out, went out of business) due to lawsuits and lack of customers and had to move in with his kids in Tennessee.

The guy puts out two or three a day. I watch maybe two in a week. I reiterate, the ones I have seen, he uses a jack stand, I've certainly not seen all his videos, not even close.

I will say this, out of the last six brand new vehicles I've owned in the last 20 years, four have been Hyundai or Kia vehicles. Only had real complaints about one of them, and it's currently twelve years old and still sitting in my garage as my (mostly) daily driver. The other two were a Dodge and a Jeep. Neither are still owned by me. Both for good reason.

My Lamborghini Aventador hasn’t given me any problems. Oil changes cost ten grand so I can’t afford to drive it but it’s solid as a rock./s

I have heard that as Honda has become more Americanized and hired a lot of MBA grads to override the engineers, their product is performing more Americanized.

My neighbor has a 2019 Genesis.
Lots of problems but the dealer treats him like a potentate (they pick it up and drop it off). He’s got four other cars so he’s not unhappy. It drives beautifully.
