From what I heard growing up in DC area, the Pentagon cycles people in and out of NSC regularly. Analysts spend a year or two, and then they are reassigned. So I'd like to know whether his expected tenure was cut short, or whether it was time for him to go anyway?
The press also makes it sound like he worked right in the White House, looking over the President's shoulder, but that's most probably not the case. The NSC is across the street in the vast Executive Office Building (EOB), part of a fenced compound containing also the WH and its acres of grounds. If I remember correctly from seeing it when I was younger, the EOB is four to six stories, with huge wings -- started out as the Dept of the Navy.
The media made it sound like they frogmarched Vindman out of the actual White House; when in fact, most the functionaries of the Exec branch work in the EOB and have their own entrance, with its own Secret Service/guard shack and what have you. Many of the Exec branch workers never see the POTUS, and may work on a separate floor in a separate wing from the office of the VPOTUS and never see him, either. So Trump wasn't lying when he said he had never heard of the guy (Vindman). And Vindman was most probably escorted out on the EOB sidewalk, not anywhere close to the WH front or back doors or the Oval Office.
Whatever is the case, he seems to think he is the only person in the U.S. who can advise the President about Ukraine. And he is quite obviously now in the Biden camp to protect their Ukrainian "interests." He's either totally corrupt, or an incredibly gullible tool. I'm disgusted.
