That is correct, they believe a living document means you can change the meaning to fit whatever the politics of the time are. And just by regulatory fiat, executive order or law from Congress.
The true definition of a living document is one that can be altered according to the rules spelled out therein. We call these Constitutional Amendments. But for dems that’s too time consuming and messy. Two thirds of the states have to agree? We can’t have that hold up “progress”. Sarcasm.

The Constitution IS a “living document” in that the Founding Fathers recognized that it would probably need to be changed and thus gave us a way to change it.
However, with Amendments, it says what it says and should be followed.
