Not true. Any time you have to go through chemo it is a big deal
Chris has stage 1c. Its the worst of stage 1..but still better than stage 2 etc.
Also many women dont know this but just because you are some version of stage 1 and end up being deemed cancer free after treatment..doesnt mean it wont come back in the perotineal area etc.
Also..always get a second opinion on any pathology report. See what happened to tom hanks wife
I got two opinions on mine. They were markedly different but concurred in no cancer diagnosis. I probably should have gotten a third opinion
Yep..she has the brca issue..or what they now call the angelina jolie gene
So here is the take away from this story...chris would have probably died from this tumor if she hadnt had that brca test that put her on alert
Get tested if you have family history.
Also..if you have family history consider getting a yearly ultra sound. Insurance may not pay for it but it doesnt cost much and may save your life
Good advice. No, critical advice. Thanks.
I was talking in comparative terms.Of course every cancer, with the exception of some skin cancers,is a big deal. But when treated at the institutions I mentioned her chances of full recovery are excellent. My sister is living proof...Dana Farber...10 years later she’s as fit as a fiddle.
Isn’t ovarian fairly treatable if caught early?
Chrissy was every little girl’s idol growing up. Sending much love her so way.
Always so classy.
Chris Evert is a class act… my prayers up for her.
That is the case with most cancers..maybe not pancreatic
But the problem is catching it early...there is no lump to feel like breast cancer.
Chris had absolutely no idea she had a cancerous tumor. Its only because she went the angelina jolie route that she discovered it.
Brca gene problems may be the ones where it comes back in the perotineal area in some cases. Never got that far in my reasearch.
People forget how dominant Evert was at the age of 15.
She has an extra layer of concern because of her gene mutation....but yes..stage 1 is better than what happened to her sister who died from it

Unfortunately, most ovarian cancer has progressed well past Stage 1 before it is identified. Stage 1 ovarian cancer has 90% five year survival rate with treatment.
Which is why I’m so curious how hers came to be diagnosed so early.
She might want to share that info with the public, too.
We know women who weren’t that fortunate.
Part of that is the medical profession..part of it because of the nature of the disease
I learned early on to make sure Drs heard the big red flag....family death history due to ovarian cancer. The only way i got a ct scan was after i mentioned Ovarian cancer death in family.
I am a big believer in running your own blood tests if you cant get a dr to order them. Unfortunately the inhibin test is not offered at directlabs. Also you really need to be past menopause for that test.
One would hope that if one is going to climb to the top of the 14-under division it would happen by the time one was 14. Of course, these days who knows.
I used to enjoy watching Women's tennis back in her day. You couldn't pay me to watch it now.
She did. Cnn just didnt report it.
Brca test after her sister died of it
Apparently, Chris Evert chose to engage in active surveillance after her sister was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Unfortunately, her sister died two years ago, following a 2½ year battle with ovarian cancer.
