If he is “hoping” it means he already knows the numbers and they are BIG (fake/inflated).

“Big” is a relative term. So he gets a strong holiday bounce then “new jobs” added....then the media will add that to the “low” new employment claims but neglect to mention the 4 million that quit their jobs in the same time frame that makes it all null and void.
