Morgan Wallen, 28, had the best selling album of 2021, beating out top runners Olivia Rodrigo, Drake and Adele

His album Dangerous: The Double Album sold more than 3million copies since its release in January

A month after its release, the country music star was caught calling someone a 'p***y a** n****,' causing him to be barred from two award shows

Despite using the racial slur, his album sales spike afterward, prompting a conversation about racism in country music

The star later met with the Black Music Action Coalition and donated money from his music sales

He was also temporarily let go from his label Big Loud/Republic and taken off most radio shows

If you casually came across music news, you would believe Adele and Drake top the charts.

Never apologize nor contribute payoff money to these organizations until they categorically ban all rap songs using the n word.

Aaron Lewis had the #1 country song in 2020 with “Am I the Only One” and it never got a minute of radio play.

Yep, keep using it if other so called singers use it.

This often happens with cancel culture. A lot of the books that are being cancel cultured from libraries and schools are experiencing increased sales.

It seems as though the WHITE Music Action Coalition would have stood up for him the way the Nasty National “Media” defends and stands up for Jo Jo the Pedo and his sidekick, Camelass. (sarcasm)

Good for Morgan Wallen, he put out some really good music.

I know many here like to dump on modern country but for me, that's where most of the best new music is coming from. What passes for "pop" these days is virtually unlistenable.

Luke Combs, Miranda Lambert, Eric Church, Kane Brown, Priscilla Block, Hardy, and Mitchell Tenpenny are a few more examples of people putting out decent new country music.

Of course, I like the old stuff too.

Good for Morgan. 3MM in sales is a pretty significant fan statement.

Zero chance I’ll come across music news-—not country-—never heard any of ‘em. If they can’t sing thru their nose my radio won’t even pick them up-——semper fi

Exactly and it seems that everyone I know is playing this gem by Blind Joe... never will see a minute of airtime.

I BELIEVE Adele’s album only came out a month ago.
So, IF this is 2021 sales, she is doing okay.

To be honest, while individual live events award shows cancelled his appearances , country radio and its fans did not.

Itd be alot easier if the anti N word advocates could understand 99% of the time a white person drops it , its in a form of cultural appropriation, which generally speaking is a form of flattery or at least mild appreciation.

He called his white friend an N in the drive way of his own home, the same way countless inner city yutes throw it around with each other.

Not racial in any way shape or form... to the chagrin of the race baiters.

Other than talk radio and sports, does anyone listen to radio anymore? It seems your post proves they have no influence.

This in addition to Kyle Larson winning the NASCAR championship after being fired last year for saying the forbidden word. And the Braves won the World Series after having the All Star Game taken from them.

“Aaron Lewis had the #1 country song in 2020 with “Am I the Only One” and it never got a minute of radio play.”
This is fascinating, to watch the waning influence of radio. (Radio was fascinating when I was growing up - all those 50,000 watt stations keeping a teenage girl up all night - and baking pies at the same time, isn’t that crazy? I later worked at several small market country radio stations - so I could play what I wanted to.) And I don’t remember the last time I turned the radio on for any reason. Just not interesting anymore. Everything programmed from some central location when it used to be local.

The purpose of this rant is to point out that this has been going on for awhile. Remember 13 year old Leann Rimes? Everyone seemed to love her hit Blue. But at the end of the year this happened: Billboard had two end of year charts - a sales chart, and an airplay chart. The sales chart had Blue at #1, and the airplay chart didn’t list it at all. It wasn’t controversial, it was just country. And a lot of stations wouldn’t play it. But it was still the #1 seller.
