I think the possibility of pulling that off is getting dimmer by the day. In looking at the big picture, it's all collapsing under the weight of its own hubris, dying the death of a thousand papercuts.

I would like to think that is true, but unfortunately I believe the number of people indifferent, lazy, unable to process information, and outright tyrannically motivated, outnumber the ones who are concerned, motivated, to any degree capable of digesting the complex information and processing it, or simply principled regarding our individual rights.

I know that is pessimistic, since a fundamental truth is that stupidity and ignorance will always outpace thoughtful analysis and awareness.

But one can always hope. Just like nothing concentrates a mind like a hanging, nothing can foster principles of freedom more effectively than the imposition of tyranny.
