Several people, probably you, long ago said these types will riot, loot, shoplift, carjack and surround pedestrians followed by "defund the police" for being harsh in arresting the thugs, then no bail and "decarceration: (letting existing cons out of prison), then "it's out of control, we need socialism and national police control."
So if Eliot Ness came back to life and brought in the Untouchables she would say “Hold on, I didn’t mean shoot at the armed thugs with those bang bang gun things. Somebody could get hurt.”

The problem is that 4.4 requires locals to work through a state's legislature or executive if they want federal assistance to help suppress violence.
So is Lightfoot's request for feds, if she is not working request through state government, possibly for political optics, alleged election-stealing, crisis-manufacturing Democats possibly not knowing that 4.4 exists imo?
In fact, Justice Joseph Story had noted that delegates to the Constitutional Convention had made 4.4 so that the untrusted feds couldn't use domestic violence as an excuse to interfere in a state's affairs, the delegates not addressing when both federal and state governmens are corrupt.
”§ 1819. It may not be amiss further to observe, (in the language of another commentator,) that every pretext for intermeddling with the domestic concerns of any state, under colour of protecting it against domestic violence, is taken away by that part of the provision, which renders an application from the legislature, or executive authority of the state endangered necessary to be made to the general government, before its interference can be at all proper [emphasis added]. On the other hand, this article becomes an immense acquisition of strength, and additional force to the aid of any state government, in case of an internal rebellion, or insurrection against its authority. She doesn’t want these troops to fight crime, she wants them to fight guns. And the only ones she can fight are the legal ones.
She’s using their lawless, no bail model, already. That’s part of the reason for the violence of repeat criminal offenders.
