That’s because we’re legalizing it STUPID. Putting enough taxes and licensing on it to make sure the white market weed is still more expensive than the black market. Legalize it smart, like booze is, black market can’t compete.
They are not the same. The first thing the government did when they re-legalized alcohol was to go HARD against illegal alcohol manufacturers. HARD. "Revenuers" went after stills, they busted up gangs that were making alcohol. That's because making hard liquor was, by comparison, much harder than bringing weed to market. Grow it, sell it compared to "get grain, get ingredients, get a still, monitor still, bottle it, distribute it...etc etc.
After a while the price point of making illegal alcohol makes it not profitable. But making pot will ALWAYS be profitable. Legalizing it and taxing it GUARANTEES an increased black market UNLESS they go HARD against every cartel that distributes it. But they won't because the cartels control enough politicians to stop it.
