Lithuania said Wednesday that it has closed its embassy in Beijing and pulled its last diplomat out of the Chinese capital, a move that came amid a spat over the European Union nation allowing Taiwan to open a representative office in its capital, Vilnius.

The Lithuanian Foreign Ministry said in a statement that the Baltic country would carry out its diplomatic activities in China, which claims Taiwan as part of its territory and does not give diplomatic recognition to nations that treat the island as a separate state.

The ministry said it had recalled Lithuania's charge d'affaires — the deputy chief of mission — in Beijing for consultations.

Beijing previously expelled the Lithuanian ambassador and withdrew its ambassador from Lithuania after the Lithuanian government allowed self-ruled Taiwan, which has a democratic system, to open an office in Vilnius.

China is the real villain of 22nd century.

China lies, does human human atrocities, steals trade secrets, allows mass production of counterfeit goods, bullies neighbor countries, and has stolen wealth from USA in record numbers.
Well, what do you expect from a communist dictatorship?

China is the world’s crazy ex-wife. The problem with this behavior is that when it stops working, as it has in this case, the evil person doubles down. China will now do something to actually hurt Lithuania. The world will take note. Those nations that are in a position to do so will start looking for non-crazy suppliers/markets. Those who are not in a position to do so will double down on their kowtowing.

China is the worst combination of schoolyard bully, Mafia enforcer, and just general crazy person. (Joy to the world.)

The civilized world will regret the day when its members decided to open their ports to Chinese made goods.

Lithuania is simply stupid to play these games.
Taiwan was just the last straw.
But before that, they did their best to sabotage the Belt and Road including financed a regime change in Belarus, partly to close the railroad to the Chinese goods. They also pushed for the Huawei ban in EU.
It is not a smart thing to do for a small nation of 2,7 million people.
The original Chinese embargo is not that scary for Lithuania because her export to China is like 1% of total export.
The problem is that China is saying it’s going to refuse to deal with every entity that won’t stop doing business with Lithuania. Now that’s a problem because China has a lot more to offer compared to Lithuania.

You may be right and then again you may be wrong. With China and Russia getting all friendly while our military is becoming more woke by the day, it may be us who may be on the regret end of things. In fact, with creepy Biden leading the charge it is pretty much a slam dunk it will be us with regrets.

In 1991 tiny Iceland became the first country to recognize Lithuania restoring their independence. This put bigger countries on the spot and they soon followed with their own recognitions.

I was vacationing in Vilnius in 2016 during the Eurocup. I happened to be in front of the Iceland Pub on Iceland street when Iceland scored their first goal against England and heard these roars. Iceland went on to win the match 2 - 1.
