President Biden on Thursday signed a bill raising the debt ceiling by $2.5 trillion, narrowly averting default on the nation’s debt.
The measure passed the Senate Tuesday afternoon in a 50-49 vote that was strictly along party lines after Democrats and Republicans reached a deal to sidestep the filibuster.
The House moved to pass the bill late Tuesday in a 221-209 vote with one Republican member voting in favor, sending it to Biden’s desk for his signature.

I’d ask how high it is now, but at this point “what difference does it make?”
Default would be the best thing that could happen for the American Republic.
to the deep-state? not so much.
Notice how they raise it just enough to get our
noses above water. Why not raise it to ten trillion?
It’s what they really want and that way they wouldn’t
have to raise it until December of next year.
Notice....totally along party lines. It’s ALL on the Dems.
It seems to be passing without notice that THE REASON McConnell bowed to the Dummies and killed the filibuster for this outrageous bill was his fear that the Republicans would be blamed for shutting down the government if the bill was held up.
Even the brilliant Steve Bannon doesn’t seem to get it.
You can agree or disagree with his thinking but he obviously had what he thinks was a good reason for folding his royal flush hand. I think it was a big mistake but it is what it is.
If you fear shutting down the government (which is exactly what needs to happen - a real shut down with pain, anguish and uprooting everywhere- if this country and civilization has any chance for survival), then you will lose every battle forevermore. Which is likely exactly what rollin-in-the-dough Turtle wants.
Or Romney
Republicans are working a “prevent defense” instead of going on the offense.
Not my style.
