Usually at this time of year, San Francisco’s luxury stores are decked with holiday garlands. Instead, they’re boarded up after widespread “flash mob” looting turned Union Square — the city’s most fashionable shopping district — into an area resembling a blighted neighborhood in Detroit.
“It’s a ghost town,” said Michelle Tandler, a San Francisco native and high-tech entrepreneur, whose photos of the stores barricaded in plywood went viral on social media this week. “Every store has a security guard. People are going to lose their jobs. And these things have a ripple effect.”
Two weeks ago, San Francisco was the first of several progressive cities hit by smash-and-grab mobs of thieves, sometimes as many as 80 in a group. Video from the San Francisco looting of Louis Vuitton shows criminals walking casually out of the store, goods in hand. Other cities hit include Los Angeles, Chicago and Minneapolis.
“This is traumatizing for our associates and is unacceptable,” said Best Buy CEO Corie Barry four days before yet another outlet was ransacked on Black Friday in a Minnesota mall. “We are doing everything we can to try to create as safe as possible environment.”

Voila. What is interesting is that even drug cartels in Mexico understand the need to enforce “laws” to keep the peace and keep the money flowing. Leftist politicians are brain damaged.

My wife and I loved visiting San Fran in the late 80’s to mid-90’s. I’m glad we went while it was still there. Looks like it has turned into Oakland.

...and, even if crime ever gets better, the reputation goes on for years. It will take quite some time to recover (if it ever does).
The city still collects property taxes from the owner. In other words they don’t care.
Stupid headline. How would rampant, unpunished looting NOT turn anyplace into a ghost town.

Personally, I'd move out and shake the dust off my feet. The bigger companies are lucky to have other stores to spread and absorb the loss. The smaller guys just have to suck it up and move on. War is hell.
Bet the insurance compamies try to make this into riot or similar, to avoid paying out. Riot insure rates are going to skyrocket in certain locations.
At least some of the stores have painted the plywood to make it look - ‘tasteful’
Commies shouldn’t have nice things...they don;t deserve them. Too bad we can’t trick them all into moving to that shining city on the hill that is Moscow!
Once upon a time black activists boycotted stores, but they now realize why boycott when you can invade a store and gut it and tear it up?
