The National Audit Office has warned that there are between 240,000 and 740,000 “missing” urgent GP doctor referrals for suspected cancer during the pandemic because millions of people have not been able to access healthcare or have avoided doing so.
The National Audit Office (NAO), the independent spending watchdog for the British government, warned in a report that hundreds of thousands of people in England who should have been referred by their doctor for suspected cancer have not been, while there may be tens of thousands fewer people starting cancer treatment than was expected.

Me too, makes my heart hurt. This has been all over the British press for some time. Judging by the comments there, they are not amused, either.

It happened and probably cost the life of one of our SIL’s.
In the meantime people like my wife with a bad hip are basically at a no go.
Thanks to Doctors, who got aggressive re treatment in their offices or OPD’s, I had a toe amputated as an outpatient and my wife got a laser outpatient treatment for her eyes post cataract.
My wife did have some heavy duty attempts to lower her pain as an outpatient. One had zero results and one treatment lasted about 4 weeks.
Basically, few if any of our relatives/friends have received what would have been standard of care before this crud.
Yep, like Trump wanted, the lockdown should have ended by Easter of 2020.
I am so sorry to read this and NY heart goes out to you. Similar experiences gaming my family and friends. It is heart-wrenching to see your loved ones not getting the care they need.
I was also saddened to see the difference in care at our finest hospital here. I also felt sorry for the ICU nurses, a couple of whom literally cried on my shoulder when I was watching over my Dad there all hours.
This whole Covid thing has been such a nightmare for us all.
