Omicron opportunities: Let’s think out of the box, shall we? What is the death rate from Omicron?
American Thinker ^ | 12/01/2021 | A. Welderson

The recent rollout of the Omicron Covid strain has prompted me to point out a few salient facts which may have escaped the notice of others. An advantage of viewing life from the cheap seats is a certain degree of perspective which is denied those who move and shake the times, or even those who watch closer to the field of play.

Now, I realize that the aforementioned Omicron should actually be named the Xi strain, Xi being the next Greek letter in the on-deck circle for the never-ending cavalcade of Covid mutations in the batting order. However, the coach for the Globalist team decided to shuffle things up, so as not to draw the ire of those who must not be inconvenienced, the Chinese Communist Party.

As it turns out, the sainted saviors of humanity at the UN agency probably shouldn’t have bothered. In the final analysis, skipping Xi caused more people to notice than if they had simply gritted their teeth and endured the inevitable Xi/Xi parallels with the head commie in Beijing. I wonder what other problematic letters lurk in the rest of the Greek alphabet, or in whichever alphabet is dragooned into servitude next?

But, back to Omicron, by whichever arbitrary name the powers that be choose to duct tape onto it. Buried deep beneath the manufactured hysteria around Omicron’s hyperactive spread, are reports that this new mutation is something of a paper tiger. Sure, it seems to be easier to catch than Covid 19 (the original) or Covid Delta (Covid 2, Electric Boogaloo), but the symptoms appear to be “super mild.” The first reaction of a reasonable person to a super mild form of Covid is on the order of, “Good news. Hope I don’t get it anyway.”

Biden referred to a variant called “Omnicron.” Sounds like it might be even worse than Omicron.

I’ve been saying this new variant could be our savior.

Covid, SARS, Delta, Omichrom, and all to follow I suspect are products of the Wuhan labs and part of China’s bio-warfare against the world, especially the US, in their pursuit of world domination.

I believe they have now almost achieved it. I say that as it is clear our US military has been weakened the last 18 months, as have all other nations. China’s military has grown stronger during the pandemic. And they are flaunting their military strength, thumbing their noses at us.

Those numbers from South Africa look pretty good, that Omicron is less serious and less fatal, than other variants of concern - apparently way less.

Botswana’s Acting Director of Health said that 16 out of their 19 cases were flat out asymptomatic, and the remaining three had “very, very mild” symptoms. (https://news.yahoo.com/botswanas-health-director-says-majority-150945144.html)

The Botswana sample is tiny, but in South Africa, omicron is already the dominant strain in the major city of Johannesburg, and there is barely a blip in hospitalizations, from their post-Delta lows.

It may be that Delta has already picked off the vulnerable, but it seems very likely that omicron is just mild.

It also seems to be extremely transmissible - the first variant able to displace Delta. One posting (from a guy on twitter, admittedly) reported that Delta had a 70% transmission advantage over the original strain, but Omicron is more like 500%.

The two big questions that are still unclear, are how effective is the immunity developed from Omicron infection against COVID generally, and what degree of protection do the vaccines provide?

If it is very mild, it may not matter much if the vaccines protect against it.

If it is effective in producing strong immunity against COVID, it might put a more rapid end to further waves of COVID.

It has already been detected in Canada, the UK and Australia; and is likely already in the USA. It will probably be in full flower for Christmas.

“I’ve been saying this new variant could be our savior:”

If the odds of dying from Omicron are lower than the odds of dying from the “vaccine,” which doesn’t actually keep you from getting Omicron anyway.

One might be excused for simply intentionally contracting Omicron instead of getting the jab.

The sickness, at least, will provide some natural immunity. Rolling the dice either way, it seems.

Probably shouldn’t go around hugging people who’ve come down with Omicron just yet. But, it’s something to think about.

If we understand the biological principle of *Muller’s Ratchet*, what we observe in South Africa should not surprise us. It is the same principle that ended the Spanish Flu, Hongkong Flu. SARS-COV-1 and a host of other pandemics.

It is the nature of Viruses to “seek” hosts to attach to and the more defenses one creates ( e.g. vaccines ), the more they mutate and transmit faster to live hosts... until they eventually reach their evolutionary end and become endemic like the common flu. Viruses do not mutate to be so virulent to kill off potential hosts otherwise they themselves will not survive. Hence they will mutate and transmit faster but not to be more lethal or stronger, but less lethal.

We should expect more mutants to evolve, but their lethality should weaken. In fact, as the South African doctor who helped discover Omicron observes, the more people get infected by weaker mutants, the more the number of natural immunity kicks in. It will then become endemic.

This Coronavirus will be with us in perpetuity. It remains to be seen what variant becomes dominant. We can do nothing but try to boost our immune system and live a healthy lifestyle. The rest, we leave in God’s hands.

“the more people get infected by weaker mutants, the more the number of natural immunity kicks in.”

This variant may be a blessing in disguise.
