President Joe Biden was caught disobeying an indoor mask mandate this weekend in Nantucket just hours after being 'fully briefed' on the new Omicron variant of the coronavirus and banning travel from eight African countries.

The president, who has been staying on the island with his family this Thanksgiving weekend, was spotted inside Murray's Toggery Shop with his mask around his neck and not covering his mouth. A large 'Face Covering Required' sign could be seen on the front door of the shop.

The island brought back its indoor mask mandates earlier this month at a town meeting on November 18. They made the decision to return to indoor masking because scientists found a prevalence of the virus in island sewage.

The first cases in Belgium and Germany were unvaccinated people.

“The suspect cases follow Belgium saying on Friday it had detected the first announced case in Europe of the new COVID-19 variant, in an unvaccinated person returning from abroad.

A leading Belgian virologist, Marc Van Ranst, tweeted that the person had returned from Egypt on November 11.”

This new bug also infects people who already had covid before.

“South African doctors are seeing an increase in reinfections in people who already had a bout of Covid-19, suggesting that the variant can overcome natural immunity, said Dr. Richard Lessells, an infectious diseases physician at the University of KwaZulu-Natal.

Omicron has about 50 mutations, including more than 30 in the spike, a viral protein on its surface that the vaccines train the body to recognize and attack.”
