Poland calls on NATO to send more forces amid concerns about Russia

STUTTGART, Germany — Poland has urged NATO to send reinforcements east over concerns about Russia’s military buildup near Ukraine, which is expected to be the focus of high-level alliance talks in Latvia next week that will include U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken. President Andrzej Duda said Thursday at NATO headquarters in Brussels that a beefed up military presence along NATO’s eastern flank is needed given concerns over Russian’s intentions in the region. “This cautiousness and vigilance from NATO, which is responsible for the military security of the allies, is necessary,” Duda told reporters after a meeting with NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg. Duda said NATO’s boosted presence could be demonstrated through strengthening its air policing role and border surveillance capabilities in the east, along with the deployment of additional units to the region. He also said that “strengthening of the readiness” of NATO units already deployed in Poland and the Baltic states should be considered. “It is also our request that the readiness of the alliance be increased, that the strategic cautiousness be increased and especially the monitoring of that situation along the eastern flank of NATO,” he said. The request comes as Poland contends with a crisis on its border with Belarus, a close ally of Russia’s.

It’s 1939 and the peaceful Russians would NEVER ally with the Nazis to invade and annex Poland.

Poland and the Baltics are always squawking about Putin and demanding more NATO, which we encourage. Because ... they like $ and we like to “keep NATO relevant”. Been going on for at two decades now.

Now that's reassuring. I suggest sending all of Biden's cabinet. Each can be armed with a list of 12 things that Putin is not supposed to do. That will intimidate the hell out of him. If by the off chance they get blasted by Putin while they are over there, then that's a win for us here at home.

Maybe since the panic factor of Covid is waning it’s time to bring back the specter of the Warsaw Pact.

There is zero chance Russia will invade Poland. But what about the Baltic States? I suppose there’s a chance - a very, very small chance - of that happening.

Anyway, let Europe do all the heavy lifting this time. No U.S. troops.

Russia wants control of Ukraine’s Gas and they want a warm water port on the Baltic. Thats it. They are not going to attack Europe when all they have to do is turn the gas off.

First, if they invoke NATO, we're obligated by treaty to assist. Plus, Poland is one of the few countries over there we NEED to be supporting.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Poles are just using the Putin boogeyman to get the other Europeans to help out, so they can free up their own troops for the Belarusian border.

If I were President, I would declare the USA has ZERO interest in Ukraine. If Russia wanted to conduct a counter-color-revolution to our 2014 CIA color-revolution, I would care

Especially since 2014, everything about our involvement in the USA has INFECTED our Republic. Its been used as a wedge to get us into conflict with a nuclear power, but even worse, the kleptocracy in Ukraine has been used to impeach a US President, and they have bought off and paid for numerous politicians, including our sitting President and his crackhead son.

US involvement in Ukraine has brought nothing but corruption and infection to the Republic.

The only thing Russia wants from Ukraine and Poland is to get rid of them as an unstable route for the gas trade with Europe, where they demand free gas and demand unreasonable transit fees.

There is exactly nothing of value in either country for Russia to get into a conflict over.

Baltic countries are more useless than that.

They used to be Soviet ports in the old times. Now Russia has developed her own ports in the Baltic and doesn’t want to hear about Baltic states anymore.

Scaremongering on the part of all the above characters is to attract attention and to extract free money from the West against non-existent threats.

Russia needs European trade, it is not interested in a war.
