I am retired now, but at my workplace there was a very strong correlation with smokers and the subject matter experts who could make “impossible” things happen.
We got a _lot_ accomplished during smoke breaks—didn’t have to worry about managers knowing what we were up to.....which was making our jobs a lot easier by working smarter and not harder.
