A Virginia university has placed an assistant professor on administrative leave after the educator sparked heated backlash for saying it isn’t necessarily immoral for adults to be sexually attracted to children.
Allyn Walker, who teaches sociology and criminal justice at Old Dominion University, made the controversial comment while discussing “minor-attracted persons” and pedophiles during a Nov. 8 interview with the Prostasia Foundation, a San Francisco-based child protection organization.
Walker, who uses the pronouns they/them, was discussing their book, “A Long Dark Shadow: Minor-Attracted People and Their Pursuit of Dignity,” when they insisted it’s important to use that terminology instead of “pedophile” because it’s less stigmatizing.
In a statement Tuesday, the school said it placed Walker on administrative leave.

If “sexual attraction to kids” is a euphemism for “wanting to have sex with underage kids,” I disagree with this prof.
They are just getting him out of the way until the noise cools down.

When I was in college, just after “The Reformation,” anytime I had to listen to the professors on “the other side of campus” I was astonished. There were two professors with huge classes who would say things like, “if you want to discuss your test scores, come see me and bring a friend, like Jack Daniels.” There was a scene in, I think the movie was “Animal House,” where you see Donald Southerland naked and there’s a coed in the bedroom. At least that would have been legal as shown as she was obviously of age. But the two professors were fired a decade or so after I left college for “accepting gifts for grades.” But I can tell you they were having wild bunny sex with girls, some of whom might have been under eighteen. It was widely known and talked about at the time. I think that the college finally caught wind of what could potentially have been a huge scandal and they morphed into Captain Renault.* “I’m shocked, shocked to find gifts are being given for grades.”
According to overheard conversations, sex between professors and students was not uncommon. The professor I worked for, a married man, had an affair with a student who turned into a scary stalker. She had a lot of money and followed him while he was working on scientific jobs in far flung places. He managed to avoid her by staying on a research ship and making sure it didn’t dock while he knew she was around. (That must have annoyed the crew. He offered them money to have sex with her so she’d switch objects. But no one was that stupid and I overheard some graduate students of his laughing about it. While she was of age at the time, I figured the whole “affair” had started while she was a visiting high school student.)

Even “they” can’t keep “their” own pronouns straight. In walker’s own quotes reverting to normal pronouns - “from MY perspective...” - “I want to be clear...” - “...the goal of MY research...”

Depends on what “Underage” is. I have read that Theodore Roosevelt, back in his day, changed the age of consent from 9 years of age to 12 years of age.
I prefer them older but at my age it doesn’t matter. I would have to take a Viagra, then 30 minutes later when it kicks in, someone would have to shake me and remind me of what and why I took it.
