Like the oil reserves were meant to be used only in a dire national emergency... The left (which includes most bureaucrats too) believes that precautions like these are only for their political benefit, anytime their leaders’ polling numbers are off due to high gas prices that their corruption triggers. No surprise the same would happen with pandemic precautions, and the government would seek to abuse these privileges routinely by exaggerating threats at every opportunity, or making threats up completely. It is the nature of centralized government to be corrupt.
