Without the law and order of Giuliani/Bloomberg, the city is losing normals and jobs steadily. I’m surprised to see several financial jobs still listed there; I assume those workers fled (and even the white-collar replacement Americans don’t want to be set upon by the ferals).
Some FReepers reliably comment that NYC will always bounce back; the remote work accelerated by the scamdemic makes that unlikely. No reason to live in (or attend school in) such a high-cost area with such dependence on mass transit, so accessible to envious and violent gibsmedats.
I agree, there are a lot of cops who are really pissed the way they have been told by the last mayor to bend over and take it. I am sure they want some payback.
I am sure they are itching to crack some heads. They just need to make sure the ones on the front lines are of the right color.
NYPD has millions invested in riot equipment. Break out the water cannons.

By "our people" he means, he is himself irreparably racist.
Eric Adams is a rat but I think he’ll be good for NYC. Anything he can do to enforce the law (like arresting Hawk Newsome for inciting violence) is a blessing for the city.
I think the trick here is to mightily crush the rioters before they get a chance to get started. I cannot understand why the cops in Seattle, Portland, Kenosha, etc. did not do this. Lock them up, no bail.
A law and order democrat mayor? That’s a change.
