The late great outspoken right wing talk guy Bob Grant (his great line in cutting off a liberal’s call was “Get off my phone line!”) told the story that a father and his young son came up to him once and the dad said “This is my son and he listens to you every day and wants to get into radio when he grows up so he can be like you.” It was Howard Stern.

Grant said, “You won’t like it but I was gracious to him and encouraged him and told him to believe in himself and go his own way no matter what other people advised him.”

Many years ago I was on “the Medved” diet. I would go to lunch, turn on the medved show, my stomach would turn and I would no longer be hungry. It worked pretty well.

I heard him praising Stern on many occasions, while denying there were any influential jews in Hollywood or the Radio Biz.
