The State Department on Friday conceded that there are significantly more Americans in Afghanistan than previously estimated -- leading to Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., and other Republicans to accuse the administration of a "betrayal" of Americans abroad.
State Department officials briefed congressional staff this week and told them that it is in touch with 363 Americans in Afghanistan and nearly 176 legal permanent residents, a congressional source who was on the call told Fox News.
That 363 number is significantly higher than previous estimates by the Biden administration, which had put the number at around 100 in September -- and is only the number with whom the State Dept. is in contact....
...Issa, who has been working to evacuate a number of Americans stuck in Afghanistan back to the United States, said he saw the numbers as proof the administration had lied about the withdrawal....

I wouldn't be surprised to learn that Pelosi told them to lie to her committees.
I wouldn't be surprised that they did the calculus and decided that it was better to let the truth come out months later when it was too late to act on the truth, than to let it come out immediately while there was still a public will to take advantage of the chaos on the ground to mount a return mission to stop the Taliban, retake Bagram, and rescue the Americans.

If I were the Taliban, I’d go to isolate/locate the 363, and set a fee for removing them from Afghanistan....something to the effect of one billion dollars. I wouldn’t even hide the ‘talks’, I’d make sure that everyone knew what the deal was all about.

So.... the actual number is likely to be much higher than this. The only question is how much. This administration is beyond despicable... they are pure evil.
