Biden is indeed no Jimmy Carter. Carter has a sense of morality, love of country, and commitment to public service, even if many of us found his policies and competence wanting. Biden has incompetence and poor judgement without redeeming human decency.

Inflation was a problem under Ford already (remember his WIN buttons?) and was a world-wide problem, which Carter inherited but did not manage to find a solution to. Biden inherited an economy with very low inflation and managed to generate an inflation problem.

He actually took some baby steps in the right direction (mitigating some of Stalin’s excesses).
I was thinking of his hare-brained schemes (e.g. virgin lands program).

He crushed the Hungarian Revolution of 1956 and put missiles in Cuba, but he did let Alexander Solzhenitsyn publish “A Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovitch.” I think a lot of the political prisoners from Stalin’s time were set free.

I read his famous speech denouncing the cult of personality. Long and didactic, as you might expect a commie speech.
When he visited, he had crates of Kelloggs’ Corn Flakes sent to the USSR. They didn’t know how to make them.

don’t get me wrong - it’s bad under Biden — horrible. But there is objectively a long way to go to get to double-digit inflation.
Biden is presiding over a steadily weakening economy that still is far short of reclaiming the jobs that were lost during March and April of 2020.
So overall, I agree it’s not necessarily as bad as Carter - but it’s very bad. And getting worse.
And we appear to be headed towards the first stagflation woes since the 1970s Nixon-Ford-Carter 8 years

Jimmy Carter was arguably an ineffective President in many regards, but he was about as honorable as a politician can be.
Biden is the most dishonorable man to occupy the office of the President. There is simply no comparison.
However, there are consequences that are similar. Foreign affairs catastrophes. Inflation. Energy crisis.
Let’s go Brandon.

Thanks to Reagan we were able too survive all but one of Carter’s distasterous policies.
The one that is still helping to destroy our nation is Carter’s creation of the Federal Department of Education.
True, I think education should be left to the States, localities and the people themselves.

Yep, the 2020s are nothing like the cheery 1970s when we could all “Do a little dance, make a little love, Get down tonight.”
Yeah, at least there was some escape for a while with the music and TV shows of the time. I was a kid in the 1970's, became a teen in 1979. I remember the 1979 gas crunch, Mom needed gas for work so I was abandoned at my paternal grandmother's for almost a week, missed almost all the first week of 7th grade junior high. Still, grandma and I had fun in her garden, reading her parapsychology books, going to downtown Pittsburgh on the bus, etc. She worked at the Clark Bar factory on the Northside of Pittsburgh, we always had candy too. At family gatherings, us kids would be in the cellar and I was the youngest and the baby of the group so they sent me up for more candy.

I agree. I think he honestly wanted what he thought was best for the country, mistaken as he may have been. I even think he was an intelligent person in some ways, but not in the ways that would make a good POTUS.
HE had his gullible moments but he is really no dummy otherwise. He just didn't have what it took to be POTUS. He did learn a bit after the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan but too little, too late.

I think the inflation/stagflation started under Nixon, he had price controls IIRC. I remember when I was 6, I got my first cassette recorder (1972) and one time played "roving reporter" and when my parents complained about inflation, I played reporter and asked them what that meant and they explained it.
