The 1911 Colt has a flawless pedigree.

It came into existence when it was found that an Officer's M1892 .38 cal revolver might eventually kill a charging (muslim) Moro in the Philippines, but often not before said Moro killed the officer who had emptied his gun into him.

IOW, it was designed specifically to drop a terrorist in his tracks.

What's not to like?

What's not to like?

The 1911 is an obsolete design with a couple glaring flaws. The feed ramp is on the frame, not the barrel, so it requires massive removal of case support (throating) to feed HP. The leaf spring extractor imparts more stress per unit area than a coil, so it requires adjustment to maintain proper extractor tension.

All other auto pistol designs except 1911 clones have corrected these flaws.
