I do remember my first bout with a strong flu.
It was about 1973. It had me in the bed. It was terrible.
Dad came in and gave me a shot of whiskey. It was late.
I sweated it out that night. Dad said never tell Mama.
I was prone to strep as a kid. Never got the flu until I was an adult.
Hot buttered rum for me back about the same year range.
My dear old Dad swore by 100 proof ginger brandy. One shot, then get in bed, bundle up and sweat it out. It worked just fine.
