I lived on Bainbridge Island for 15 years. Loved it there, but sometimes had to go into the city to shop or see doc. Ferries are terrific. At least at that time, they were. Clean, comfy, served great coffee and a decent meal if you wanted it. non-smoking except in a special cabin. You could drive on or leave your car in a parking lot and walk on.
No clue how people can survive without ferries. From Bainbridge, it’s a six-mile swim in icy water. Or horribly long drive ...I forget how to do that, but it’s possible. Scariest bridge in the world involved in that trek.
