Jacksonville Center controls all IFR flights into FL. This is not the Jacksonville Airpot Tower.
That particular ATC controls flight in/out of Florida, Georgia, Alabama, North Carolina and South Carolina....
It’s one of the busiest ATC in the country...

Thousands of people in other states that had flights to Jacksonville weren’t “fine”. And thousands of people with flights out of Jacksonville weren’t “fine” either.
Jacksonville houses Jax Center which covers an extensive area from roughly Tennessee, down to Florida and a little west of Pensacola, I believe (been a while, so if I have the coverage area wrong, I apologize). Point is, that it wouldn’t just affect Florida-it affects the whole eastern coastal flow of traffic.
It’s best to comment on subjects with which one is familiar.
